Synopsis:
Among research activities conducted under this program are synthesis and characterization of biopolymers from natural resources, biodegradable plastics from phytomass and microorganisms, bioresin from tree barks, bio-based coating materials, bio-based chemicals, biofertilizer and enzyme synthesis for bioretting and lignocellulose treatment. The laboratory also explores potential applications of biopolymers, biochemicals and their derivatives in various areas such as in slow-release fertilizer, cosmetics, biomedical, antimicrobial agent, coating and etc.
Current Projects:
- Investigation of catalytic reaction ash forming elements of oil palm biomass under thermal pyrolysis process on bio-crude oil yield for bioenergy sector (FRGS-RM67,000)
- Research Collaboration for Green Paulownia (Green Paulownia Sdn.Bhd-60,000)
