Synopsis:

The program is to screen and identify plants with potential for biocomposites industry and commercialization of new plants through the development of sustainable plantation systems. The main focus is to work on research related to the screening, identification and characterization of forest products such as Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) and Paulownia (Paulownia sp).

Current Projects:

1. Soil CO2 Efflux Dynamics under land-use types and its association with land-use chronosequence in Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang (RM20,000)
2. Genetic Modification of Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L) for Enhanced Growth and Fiber Quality (RM102,000 )
3. Genetic diversity and viability of Belian (Eusideroxylon zwageri) in planted and natural forests for identifying optimal seed sources for species restoration (RM128,200)
