SERDANG, 27 July 2022 - The Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has been invited to attend the Strategic Plan Coordination Seminar for the Sustainable Agricultural Landscape of Southeast Asia (SALSA) collaboration platform. It aims to develop a joint action plan between UPM, the Agricultural Research Center for International Development (CIRAD) and INSTIPER, Yogjakarta, Indonesia in strengthening visibility at the international level in the field of sustainable agriculture and forestry.

The UPM representatives were led by the Director of INTROP, Prof. Ts. Dr. Khalina Binti Abdan, together with INTROP's Senior Research Officer, Dr. Norfaryanti Kamaruddin and Dr. Syeed SaifulAzry Osman Al-Edrus. Others who joined the seminar, the CIRAD Regional Director of Southeast Asia, Dr. Jean-Marc Roda, newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Los Banos University, Prof. Dr. Nathaniel Bantayan, as well as the top management officers and staff of INSTIPER led by Prof. Dr. Agus Setyarso.

The seminar has been held for three days in Yogyakarta. The three parties presented and shared a strategic plan to strengthen this strategic cooperation platform. INSTIPER as the host of this seminar also took the delegation to visit their research facilities within and outside the campus which are able to support the SALSA action plan.

In addition, the seminar aims to assist UPM in achieving the goal of increasing visibility and driving the research excellence in the field of agriculture and tropical bio-resources at international level. Furthermore, it is to promote to carry out industrial networking activities and innovation in the field of wood and tropical fibers with international stakeholders and playing an active role in strengthening long-term cooperation through the SALSA cooperation platform.
