Higher Institution Centres of Excellence (HICoE)

The Center of Excellence (Center of Excellence, CoE) was established with the aim of driving Institutions of Higher Learning (IHE) to continue to compete in various fields of research, expertise and services at national and international levels. The diversity of CoEs established is an ongoing effort to enhance and improve the quality of research and development (R&D) and services offered by HEIs.

The third component of the National Education Strategic Plan (NESP) is to strengthen research and innovation. In line with this aspiration, the Ministry of Higher Education aims to create 20 world-class CoE worlds by 2020. Recognition of a CoE in Institutions of Higher Learning is a step towards becoming an internationally renowned Higher Institution (HICoE).

INTROP has been recognized as a HICoE in the field of Fiber and Tropical Wood.
