The Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia, successfully organized the HICoE Stakeholder Engagement & Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for Kenaf Strategic Planning on 15–16 February 2026 at Premiera Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
The workshop aimed to obtain strategic input and insights from stakeholders in strengthening the direction of Kenaf strategic planning. The program also focused on sustainability, commercialization, and technology transfer of INTROP’s research outcomes to ensure alignment with industry needs and national agendas.
The workshop brought together more than 20 participants comprising INTROP researchers, local and international industry representatives, government agencies, NGOs, kenaf farming communities, and representatives from higher education institutions. Among the agencies and organizations involved were the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board (LKTN), Malaysian Nuclear Agency, representatives from the composites and pulp & paper industries, as well as international strategic partners from Indonesia.
Throughout the two-day program, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) sessions were conducted to deliberate on industry needs, current challenges, and strategic collaboration opportunities. The workshop also featured research outcome presentations covering the UAV Biocomposite Program, Technical Textiles Program, and Pulp & Paper Program, alongside a showcase session and strategic summary discussion.
Through this initiative, INTROP remains committed to strengthening strategic networks with industry and related agencies, enhancing research impact, accelerating commercialization efforts, and delivering meaningful benefits to academia, industry, and society.
