On 17 October 2025 (Friday), the Graduate Committee of the Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia, organised an INTROP Graduate Programme Promotion for Nilai Polytechnic, conducted online via Google Meet. INTROP was represented by Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Zulkhairi Mohd Yusoff and Mr. Mohd Ashadie Kusno.
The objective of this programme was to share information on the fields offered at INTROP for postgraduate studies at the Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) levels in general to students, and specifically to lecturers and related staff of Nilai Polytechnic, Negeri Sembilan.
This graduate promotion programme focused on lecturers, staff, and students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering as well as the Department of Agrotechnology and Bio-Industry, Nilai Polytechnic, Negeri Sembilan. The programme commenced at 9.00 a.m. and concluded at 10.00 a.m., and was coordinated from the H. Cannabinus Meeting Room, INTROP, UPM.
A total of 9 feedback responses were received from the 47 lecturers and students who attended the programme. The feedback was divided into two sections, namely respondent demographics and feedback on postgraduate studies.
For the Master of Science (MSc) programmes, the areas that attracted the highest interest among respondents were Biofibre Characterization, Treatment & Processing Technology, Biocomposite Manufacturing Technology, and Biomass Industry Pollution Control, each recording 62.5% interest. This was followed by Tropical Rainforest Management & Ecosystem Services, with 50% interest. Programmes such as Phytoresources, Selection and Plantation, Forestry Data Science & Analytics, Advanced Hybrid Biocomposite Technology, and Biopolymer and Derivatives each recorded 37.5% interest. Biocomposite Product Design and Pulp & Paper Technology and Products recorded 25% interest, while Wood Industry recorded 12.5%.
For the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme, Biocomposite Manufacturing Technology attracted interest from 62.5% of the respondents.
Among the factors considered a priority by respondents in deciding to further their studies at INTROP were self-financial support (scholarships) and the cost of tuition fees. In addition, the fields of study offered, the duration of study, and the graduation requirements were also important considerations for the respondents.
