27 May 2025 (Tuesday) - The Institute of Tropical Forestry & Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia welcomed a delegation from the Terengganu Timber Industry Training Centre (TTITC). The delegation was led by Dr Azman bin Mohamad, Chief Executive Officer of TTITC, accompanied by Mr. Mohd Hafiz bin Jusoh@Alias, Senior Head of Academic Affairs.
The purpose of the visit was to gain insights and exchange knowledge regarding the bamboo industry, particularly in the areas of research, conservation, and studies on bamboo species conducted at INTROP.
During the visit, the TTITC delegation was taken on a tour of the nursery and given an overview of the Smart Digital Nursery Monitoring System, an IoT-based system used to monitor the growth of bamboo plants. Additionally, they visited the tissue culture unit to observe the application of in vitro propagation methods in bamboo research.
Overall, the visit provided TTITC with a comprehensive understanding of the scope of bamboo-related research carried out at INTROP. INTROP looks forward to future collaborations with TTITC, which will create opportunities for INTROP researchers to share their expertise with both the industry and community while enhancing networking initiatives and contributing to the advancement of knowledge at UPM.
