CONFERENCE EXCURSION

As part of our conference program, we have organized a technical excursion to KILIM UNESCO GLOBAL GEOFOREST PARK, scheduled for the third day of WOBIC 2023, November 25, 2023. Notably, this park has achieved the prestigious distinction of renewing its "green card" status, marking four consecutive years as a UNESCO Global Geopark. The park is dominated by mangrove forests and picturesque karstic formations created through the dissolution and erosion of the limestone from the Setul Formation, which have produced numerous sea stacks, sea arches and pinnacles. The mangrove forests have created an environment for several rare species of flora and fauna such as the limestone cycad, which grows on vertical cliff faces, bright yellow sea hibiscus, and the iconic Brahminy Kite and sea eagle. Please visit https://langkawigeopark.com.my/ to know more about the Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Global Geopark.
