Serdang, 2nd October 2024 - The Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP) received a visit from the PETRONAS delegation (Project Delivery & Technology (PD&T)) and discussed the research "Biodegradable Polymer use in Controlled-Release Fertilizer (CRF)". INTROP is represented by Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Khalina Abdan (Director), Dr. Ayu Rafiqah Shafi (Post Doctoral), Dr Ahmad Safwan Ismail (Post Doctoral) and Ts. Dr. Mohd Radzi Ali (Research Officer) attended this discussion which lasted for 2 hours.
INTROP Director, Prof. Ir. Dr. Ts, Khalina Abdan chaired the first meeting with PETRONAS to discuss biomass-based biodegradable fertilizer research concerning "Development of Slow-Releasing Fertilizer from Biopolymer Composites of Palm Empty Bunch Waste" which is the result of a previous research led by Almarhum Dr. Harmaen Ahmad Saffian (INTROP Research Officer). The discussion also focuses more on the results of research that has been carried out at UPM, particularly at INTROP, in areas related to the use and production of products.
Overall, PETRONAS has a clear understanding of the scope of research and studies related to biomass-based products. INTROP looks forward to future collaborations with industry, which will create opportunities for INTROP researchers to share their expertise with both industry and the community while enhancing networking initiatives and advancing knowledge at UPM.
